Pop-ups saying your computer is infected, a browser that’s been hijacked, a machine that’s suddenly slow, or a phone call from ‘Microsoft’: DC Computer Repairs removes viruses, malware and scam software, secures your computer afterwards, and shows you how to avoid it next time.
Signs your computer may be infected
- Pop-ups or full-screen warnings telling you to call a number
- Your browser homepage or search engine has changed by itself
- The computer has become very slow, or the fan runs constantly
- Programs you didn’t install, toolbars, or adverts everywhere
- Friends receiving emails or messages you didn’t send
- Files you can’t open, or a demand for payment to get them back
Had a scam pop-up or phone call?
Don’t call the number and don’t let anyone connect to your computer. Close the browser or switch the machine off, then call us. If you’ve already let someone in or paid, call us straight away, contact your bank, and change your passwords from a different device.
What we do
- Scan and remove. We find and remove viruses, malware, spyware, adware, hijackers and scam ‘support’ software.
- Repair the damage. We fix the settings, browser and system files they’ve changed, and recover what can be recovered.
- Secure it. Updates applied, proper protection installed, and your accounts and passwords checked.
- Show you. We explain what happened and how to spot it next time, in plain English.
Most removals can be done remotely for £45 while you watch. Badly infected machines come into the workshop.
Antivirus we recommend
We supply and install Sophos Home Premium with HitmanPro for £37.46 a year: business-grade protection that’s light on your computer and covers up to ten machines. We’ll set it up and make sure it’s actually running.
Prices
- Diagnostics: free
- Collection & return repair service: £75, no fix no fee
- Remote IT support session: £45
- Sophos Home + HitmanPro antivirus (1 year): £37.46
Parts are quoted separately and agreed with you before we order anything.
Virus removal FAQs
Will I lose my files?
Almost never. We remove the infection and keep your documents and photos. If a drive needs wiping, we back up your files first and tell you before anything is done.
Is Windows Defender enough?
For careful users it’s a reasonable baseline, but most infections we see got past it. Sophos adds ransomware protection and web filtering, and we check that whatever you use is up to date and working.
Can a virus spread to my other devices?
Some can, particularly through shared folders and email. We’ll check your other machines if you’re worried, and a remote session is a quick way to do it.
